Hey Hey!
Wow! It’s been almost a year since this website has been updated! But I’m updating now to let you know that we are still alive and kicking!
My initial intent was to sit down and hash out how we became so bogged down on website updates–but oh, the list goes on and on. I would much rather spend that time gearing up and getting us ready for the present than regale you with the past.
The truth is, in the present, I’m watching and communicating with soldiers that are deployed now, and looking forward to coming home soon. I’m sending messages to men that have just started their third and fourth deployments, asking them to send me addresses, and let us know how we can help.
I’m meeting with veterans to tell them about our organization, and working with them to raise money so that we can continue to support and take care of soldiers deployed, soldiers home, and soldier struggling, in any way we can.
And we are listening. Listening to veterans with PTSD, tossing out lifelines to soldiers on suicide watch, sending lots of love to fierce mothers whose sons are currently in bootcamp, and sending birthday messages to deployed soldiers.
In the last 2 months, our volunteers have worked behind the scenes to bring in $4000 in cash. Two local offices–Amdocs and Aetna–have taken it upon themselves to collect more cash and care packages donations.
All we need now is you—
Your soldiers and loved ones
Your voice and insight
Your time and assistance
I remain grateful—and honestly, gobstopped—that when my own life’s obligations forced me into a bit of a hiatus, our volunteers did not let us grow stagnant, but moved forward so that we’d be in good shape when we were ready to get back to it.
We are ready. Right now.
I look forward to telling you more, and hearing from you, anytime.
Lori
