Homeless Veteran’s Project: THE HOMEWARD BOUND TRUCK Raffle:
1954 Chevrolet 3100, completely restored
TICKETS: $50
Drawing August 2, 2014
at the
Vermilion Regional Airport
held by
Midwest Veteran’s Association, NFP
For tickets, email dawns206@yahoo.com

I have been watching the Midwest Veteran’s Association, for months, now, turn a 1954 Chevrolet from this old truck:

this old truck:

and it can be yours!!

The truck is being raffled off, and a lucky winner will be drawn on August 2, at the Vermilion Regional Airport. You need not be present to win, but you might as well be there to pick up your truck, don’t you think?

And have a hot dog while you’re there. Picking up your truck.

And listen to a concert that night, with Aaron Tippin and Sargent Angie Johnson, while you’re there. Picking up your truck.

Really folks, this restoration project started a year ago, and I have watched them work tirelessly to complete this truck in time for the big day, that will also include a 500+ motorcycle parade, great food, and many, many vendors. Those that haven’t been  building an engine and painting the truck have been attending festivals and fairs, and in general, hitting the sidewalks to promote the event, and sell tickets.

Tickets are only $50, and if you don’t win the truck, then your $50 is put to some very, very good use.

Ladies and gentlemen, there are veterans of all ages in our homeless shelters right now. Many are older, and served in Viet nam, and many are younger, in their early 20s, and have had a hard time acclimating to a peaceful society after returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Regardless of where or how they served, they served. They signed up, and made a promise, and we live our cushy little lives because they were there in the background for us.

Fifty bucks.

Do me a favor, will you? If you’ve got it, skip dinner and drinks just one night this month, and set that money aside for a ticket, instead.

All of the proceeds go to to assist organizations that assist homeless veterans in 34 counties in Central Illinois and West Central Indiana. It’s a good, good cause.
