I was green to all things military when I set out 6 years ago, to try to find something that would make a difference in the day of my son and his comrades in Iraq. I had no idea, then, how many U.S. Veterans would swoop in to stand beside me in my efforts. Our former Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines have shown up to direct traffic, wave flags, pack boxes, and raise money for our cause, our troops.
I’ve been moved by so many conversations reflecting the same sentiment: “I wish we could throw a party to bring them all home.” “They’ve trained him well, Lori; he knows what to do, and he’ll come home safe.” “You hang in there. He’ll be ok, you’ll be ok.”
And, buckling me every time, they say “Thank you.”
No sirs, no, Thank YOU. A thousand times, thank YOU.
We will be introducing you to more veterans from here, there, and everywhere in the future, at Operation Warrior Watch. If you have a special veteran in your life that you’d like to tell us about, please share with me at ljstewart@gmail.com. We’d love to share your photos and stories!
